*Noob- A person who is completely new to a topic and therefore knows nothing about it.
If you, my fellow readers, are going to be reading my blog regularly you cannot be a noob when it comes to anime. “Oh NO,” I hear you shout. “I think I may just be a noob” you continue. Worry not my faithful and loyal reader; you know Tshilli Tshedza’s got you covered. In this article, I’ll cover basic noob tendencies so you can spot a noob from a mile away, and I’ll also hook you up with the “Anime survival kit for noobs” created by yours truly. So fret not, and know I got you.
Noob tendencies
Noobs tend to go around saying that anime is for kids and to that, I say “y’all don’t know what you talking about”. Anime in Japan is more than just television; it is embedded into the daily culture of Japan. Imagine having Game of Thrones quality shows but like for every genre, that’s how good anime is (okay I may have pushed with the GOT ref but I’m sure many of y’all caught my drift). Netflix has also realized how fantastic anime is because they too are trying to bring anime to the masses, even going as far as to create their own.
Noobs cannot tell the difference between the Power Puff Girls and Dragonball Z. Noobs here’s a word of warning; don’t be that guy that is like “Yeah I totally love anime. I loved watching Ed’ Edd’ and Eddy while I was a kid.” NOOO! That’s completely wrong. You may be correct in assuming that the word anime is derived from the animation, but it’s important to realize that every group has their jargon. That is like going to a cricket player and asking them: “Hey Graeme Smith. What do you feed your bat every day? Insects or blood from your victims” (that was a horrible joke)
Noob tendency number three is that noobs don’t know that anime has so many different genres. From Shounen anime-like, Dragon ball z and Naruto, to Slice of Life Anime that will make you cry like Rainbow or Anohana, there is most probably an anime genre for you. All you have to do is find it. I am at least hoping to push you in the right direction with my anime starter pack below
